"It is about a lifelong passion! It is not just about a cigar, it is a dream–the Garcia's dream!"
Jose Pepin Garcia
Don Jose Pepin Garcia was born in Cuba in 1950. By the age of 11 he worked in a family owned cigar factory in Báez, Cuba. He honed his cigar rolling skills for 30 years. An expert torcedor (cigar roller) and blender, he earned the highest honor for a cigar roller- Master Class 8. He is also a Tabaquero Maestro (Master Blender). He has consulted for Cohiba, Partagas, and Montecristo.
Don Pepin left Cuba in 2001, traveling Nicaragua and then Miami, Florida where he would establish his own cigar factory. El Rey de los Habanos, Inc. was established in 2002 in the Little Havana neighborhood of Miami. The small factory was unable to meet the demand and Don Pepin opened a second factory, Tabacalera Cubana, in Estelí, Nicaragua. The company is now known as My Father Cigars.
Introduced by Garcia in 2012, Flor de las Antillas is the first boxed-pressed line from My Father. The “Flower of the Antilles” is an homage to Jose Pepin Garcia’s native Cuba. This medium bodied beauty is a blend of pure Nicaraguan tobaccos with a Nicaraguan Sun Grown wrapper. Notes of white pepper, nutmeg and cocoa tickle the senses. The Flor de las Antillas Toro was awarded #1 Cigar of the Year by Cigar Aficionado in 2012 with a 96 rating. Very impressive, and so is the discounted price found online at elcigarshop.com!
