The Garcia family is dedicated to the fine art and Cuban tradition that makes My Father cigars one of the most sought after by smokers around the world. My Father Flor de las Antillas is no exception. Flor de las Antillas was ranked #1 cigar in 2012 by Cigar Aficionado magazine.
Flor de las Antillas Robusto is a medium to full-bodied cigar consisting of a sun grown wrapper from the region of Estelí, Nicaragua and blended of Cuban seed tobaccos, and Nicaraguan binder and filler. The result is a silky and creamy creation with My Father signature notes of dark chocolate and spice with a hint of white pepper.
The beautiful retro, early 20th century artwork on the band of the Flor de las Antillas begs the question: “Band on or band off?” This is a matter of personal preference. Usually leaving it on lets people know what brand you are smoking. If you feel the need to remove the band, first warm up the cigar a little. This will make it easier to remove the band without tearing the delicate wrapper.
The best times for offering a cigar are after a meal, with a port, cognac or coffee. I’m presently enjoying my Flor de las Antillas with a Nicaraguan blend coffee. The coffee has cocoa flavor with nuances of fruitiness and a strong finish that matches perfectly with the cigar’s medium strength and dark spicy wrapper. This is truly a wonderful pairing.
