The Flor de las Antillas was introduced by the renowned Garcia’s My Father cigar line in 2012. Immediately the cigar was a hit with cigar aficionados and the Toro received the first-place title of Cigar Aficionado’s "25 Best Cigars of the Year" with a 96 rating. The maduro version of this powerhouse has been anxiously awaited and is finally here. The Maduro “Flower of the Antilles” is a guaranteed excellent smoking experience.
This behemoth is a 3/4 to full-bodied blend of Nicaraguan filler and binder and is balanced with an Ecuadorian Sun Grown Maduro wrapper. This full flavored cigar is filled with aromas ranging from white pepper, nutmeg, cocoa and cedar. This is an excellent addition to My Father's stellar line up and can be snapped up online at a great price from elcigarshop.com!
Last year, I received a box of Flor de las Antillas Maduro Toro Gordos as a Christmas gift from a very generous friend. Or so I thought. As soon as I opened my gift, my friend practically drooled on it. I suddenly realized I was not going to save these for another day. So my generous holiday spirit kicked in and we shared these beauties with one of my bourbons. I pulled out my bottle of Bluebird Distilling Four Grain which I was saving for a special occasion. Again, I was being generous or it could have been the eggnogs that were imbibed earlier. The bourbon is a blend of corn, rye, wheat and barley. It is only distilled once and aged in charred American oak barrels. The sweet flavors of oak, spice and vanilla with a medium dry finish complimented the complex spicy flavors of our Flor de las Antillas. I built a fire and it started to snow. Then I realized I did not have a gift for my friend. The snow started to come down heavier that night and my friend had to hit the road. As we said our good-byes, I slipped a few of my treasured stogies into his coat pocket. Merry Christmas, old friend!
