There are very few cigars out on the market that are as hard to find as the VSG series from Ashton. Maybe it is because they are such fantastic cigars and are so well-rated, well-received, and well-liked. Maybe it is because they are released in a limited quantity every year. Maybe it’s because they have had a few issues (like a fire at the Fuente factory where they are made) that disrupt the product line. Whatever the reason, they are hard to find, and if you come across one, you owe it to yourself to try it out.
As with all the Ashton cigars on the market, the VSG Spellbound cigars are made in the Dominican Republic by the Arturo Fuente family. The cigars are made from the finest tobacco that can be found in the Dominican Republic, which will then be harvested and aged for four to five years in order to perfect the flavor of the tobacco. But the real prize of this cigar is the Virgin Sun Grown wrapper. The wrapper from Sumatran seed grown in the beautiful soil and sun of the Dominican Republic, which imparts fantastic flavor.
When cut and lit, the cigar is a fantastic combination of flavors, which anyone should be able to enjoy, especially those with a predilection toward darker cigars. Notes of chocolate, espresso, and earthy tones abound, and the cigar is nothing if not bursting with flavor. A fantastic cigar to hoard for your own use or to share with those who are close to you, to be sure.
