- A private estate in Ecuador furnishes the proprietary wrapper of Ashton Virgin Sun Grown from high-grade Sumatra seeds. The region’s natural cloud cover serves as a delicate sunlight filter, slowly maturing the highest primings. Four- to five-year-aged Dominican tobaccos procured from the most fertile plants underscore a powerful cedar and espresso flavor against a vibrant, dark chocolate expanse. The Velvet Hammer!

Ashton Cigars has a number of premier lines, lines that are fantastic and that are worth mentioning, lines that people search for and become fans of over the long term. The Ashton VSG line is one such line, and the reason for this can be summed up by the label. Surely, the label is unusually ornate for an Ashton cigar, but there are three very important words on it; Virgin Sun Grown.
The VSG line is made, like many other Ashton lines, under the skillful hands of the Fuente workers, at their facility in the Dominican Republic. The binder and filler are chosen from the best tobacco that Arturo Fuente can get their hands on, carefully selected for its ability to compliment the wrapper. That wrapper is an Ecuadorian Sun Grown wrapper, which will impart a slight oiliness and a fantastic flavor to the cigar as it ages and as it burns. When you smoke the cigar, you will pick up a peaty flavor, as well as a peppery flavor, combined with a creaminess that you don’t find in many cigars.
The VSG Corona Gorda is a 5.7 inch cigar with a 46 ring gauge, offering a full-bodied and full-flavored smoke. They’re hard to find, nearly impossible to find in stores unless you’re looking to buy in quantity, and are in high demand due to their fantastic reception as a great cigar. If you can find one, you will be rewarded with a fantastic flavor that goes well with many scotches, but that also pleases the palate on its own.
