El Cigar Shop offers a variety of cigars made in America as well as cigars consisting of tobaccos from the Connecticut River Valley or made by Americans in other countries. Brands such as JC Newman, La Palina and El Cigar Family Series are made in the United States whereas Ashton and Drew Estate are owned by Americans. Let’s take a look at these Patriotic offerings.

Cigars Made in America

All of El Titan de Bronze cigars are handcrafted in the historic neighborhood of Little Havana, Miami by level 9 torcedores (rollers).  Each cigar is constructed in the traditional Cuban style and finished with an exquisite triple cap. Then the “tarea” (day’s work) is inspected by a master roller and blender.

The small batch of cigars are boxed and dated to ensure the company’s highest standards. Along with their own signature brand, El Titan de Bronze rolls and blends for premium cigar brands such as Herrera Estelí Miami by Drew Estate, the limited release premium La Palina Goldie and El Cigar Shop’s Family Series.

La Palina Mr. Sam incorporates a rich, dark Ecuadorian Habano wrapper leaf with a decadent blend of Nicaraguan long-filler from the fertile regions of the Jalapa Valley and Estelí. La Palina Mr. Sam Robusto has notes of coffee, cedar, and a subtle red pepper spice.

Also created by El Titan de Bronze, El Cigar’s house blend Family Series Sawyer- Blanton's Bourbon Infused Habano is a blend of aged Nicaraguan long-filler tobacco and binder infused with premium Blanton’s Bourbon encased in a Habano wrapper leaf. The Kentucky bourbon attributes to a hint of sweetness with notes of citrus and spice.

Founded in 1895, the J.C. Newman Cigar company didn’t introduce the powerful Brick House until 1937. The authentic Cuban puro was made only with premium Havana tobaccos. The Brick House label is modeled after Newman’s family home and tavern in Hungary. Originally located in Cleveland, Ohio, the company now resides in Ybor City, Florida.

Today, J.C. Newman’s Brick House exclusively uses the finest Havana wrapper and Nicaraguan puro filler tobaccos. The blend creates a mild to medium-bodied smoke with notes of cedar, spice, and toast with a subtly sweet finish.

Don’t let the name deter you from trying J.C. Newman Factory Throwouts. Every cigar is made in Tampa on antique rolling machines. The machine-made cigar is actually a blend of premium aged Dominican filler and binder leftover from Arturo Fuente cigars with an expensive, high-quality Ecuadorian Sungrown wrapper with slight discoloration. This minor defect allows the consumer to have an excellent smoking experience at half the cost.

Founded in 1985 by Robert Levin, Ashton Distributors, Inc. is family-owned and operated with headquarters in the “Birthplace of America”- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ashton is the purveyor of the Classic Ashton line, La Aroma de Cuba and San Cristobal, among others.

In 1999, after spending time in Estelí, Nicaragua, Jonathan Drew returned to his home in Brooklyn, New York bringing with him several new blends for his company, Drew Estates. The unusual blends called for something equally unique. So, Drew and his business partner, Marvin Samel, recruited underground artist Scott “ACID” Chester to design the ACID signature boxes.

Chester’s urban industrial, graffiti art made the perfect medium for the infused cigars. In July of 2007, Drew Estate opened La Gran Fabrica in Estelí, Nicaragua. Drew Estate is the master of infused cigars and Kentucky Fire Cured Ponies do not disappoint. KFC uses American fire-cured tobaccos from Virginia and Kentucky that are cured over hickory, maple, and oak logs for a rich, smokey, woodsy flavor with nuances of peaty Scotch. Kentucky Fire Cured cigars are a little taste of Americana.

In 2012, Christian Eiroa and his partner Robert Caldwell introduced the Wynwood brand made at Miami’s Wynwood Cigar Factory. Nearly 10 months after Wynwood Cigar Factory launched, Caldwell departed to form his own company and the Wynwood Cigar Factory soon closed. Then in late 2018, Christian Eiroa of C.L.E brought back the Wynwood brand in a completely different format—one size, a Robusto, with three distinctive blends. The Wynwood Hills Unhinged Maduro Robusto is one of these, crafted with a blend of premium Honduran and Dominican fillers supported by a dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.

I work in a downtown bar and restaurant and one can smoke here. Our main license is our bar license. We are in Shreveport, La. I sell the cigars we buy. A customer just asked about cigars which come from the USA . I googled it and found your article.
