In 2003 Rocky Patel began focusing on their Vintage Series of premium cigars. The Vintage Series consists of premium quality aged tobaccos comprised of unused bales of rare Honduran-grown broadleaf and Ecuadorian Sumatra which Patel himself had discovered in Honduras. The two different types of tobaccos created the blends for the Vintage 1990 and 1992 Series. Rocky Patel’s attention to high quality and detail has earned the Vintage Series Cigar Aficionado’s “Top 25 Cigars of the Year” in 2004 and 2006 with a 92 rating.
The Vintage 1990 is a blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan long leaf fillers highlighted by a 12 year old Honduran Broadleaf Maduro wrapper. The impressive medium-bodied Vintage 1990 Toro has a rich smoke output loaded with earthy tones, toasted nuts, and hints of cocoa and coffee.
No medium to full-bodied cigar is complete without a semi-sweet indulgence of dark chocolate and a cup of coffee, and the Vintage 1990 Toro is no exception. Lake Champlain Chocolates are premium organic chocolates made in Burlington, Vermont since 1983. Lake Champlain Chocolates mimics Rocky Patel’s philosophy by creating chocolates of high quality and craftsmanship. If you’ve never paired dark chocolate with a cigar now is your time to start! The best way to enjoy this pairing is to take 2-3 puffs of the Vintage 1990 Toro, one bite sized piece of semi-sweet chocolate (LCC offers single serving coins and squares) then a sip of coffee preferably espresso. This combination is the perfect pick me up!
