Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 Maduro Cigar Review – This 6×47 stick features a thick, firm oily wrapper with a butter-soft feel and almost black appearance. With a triple cap and sweet soapy aroma.  The first light reveals a loose draw with good smoke production showing a mild body of creamy, slick, and smooth vanilla through the long finish of the same.  The first third just adds a little bit of pepper at the tail of the finish, adding a nice contrast to the still mild body.  Burn is very good with short ash chunks.  The ½ way point comes at 30 minutes with the burn slowing but still very short ash drops.  Flavors are up to medium body joined on the draw by a musty yeasty bread carrying through with everything else to the next draw.  Ending just over 1 hour the last third showed no further changes to the nub. The first light reveals a very firm draw and rich deep flavors of caramel, earth, tobacco, and butter with a finish that goes to a heavy black pepper. The first third holds flavors of coffee, cream, a slight sweetness, and lots of rich oil. The finish has a bit of pepper and sweetness as well, getting more earth at the end. 45 min in at the halfway point, flavors and strength were still up medium-full and the rich creamy, oily qualities really shine through. The remainder of the cigar proved to be consistent, holding all the fine flavors till the nub, which is just fine with me! Never pushing over medium-full strength it was powerful but allowed me to experience the full flavor all the way down.

This 5.1×50 stick features an almost jet black slightly toothy wrapper with a few small veins, thick firm pack, tight seams, triple cap, and slight cedar aroma. The first light reveals a perfect draw with rich smooth plentiful medium-bodied smoke giving a creamy thick, chewy wood flavor with a long finish. The first third quickly develops to a more complex creamy sweet cedar with a good bit of pepper. The finish is long and heavy, bringing out a really strong wood and zing on the lips. 20 minutes in the ash falls off in an inch chunk, the body is up to a medium-full, and strength is being noticed, about a medium. Flavors have transitioned a bit with creamy chocolate and pepper joining the sweet cedar on the draw. 35 minutes in at the 1/2 way point flavors shift slightly, dropping the sweetness and the wood flavors turns very dry and parched, especially through the finish giving me a cottonmouth. The last third holds the strength at medium and body at medium-full, shifting to slightly sweet licorice and pepper as it heats up towards the nub.
