Winston Churchill was known for being an avid cigar smoker.  In fact, if you look at public pictures of him, you very rarely find one where there is not at least one cigar within his reach, and often that cigar is in his hands or on his lips.  Winston Churchill was fond of Cuban cigars, back in the days before the communist overthrow of Cuba, and one of his favorite brands was La Aroma De Cuba.

Now, these cigars are not made in Cuba, but rather they are distributed by Ashton cigars and made by My Father cigars, the company operated by Don Pepin Garcia.  And it is only someone like Don Pepin Garcia who would be capable of reviving the brand and doing so without being derided for his attempt. 

The La Aroma De Cuba series of cigars is made in Esteli, Nicaragua, at the My Father factory run by the esteemed Don Pepin Garcia.  The cigars are made mostly with tobacco that is grown from Cuban seed, which means that someone removed the seed from Cuba, usually during the Spanish-American War or the Cuban Revolution, and planted it elsewhere.  In this case, the binder and filler are Nicaraguan, but the wrapper is an American wrapper, a Connecticut Shade wrapper, much like the Ashton Classic line utilizes.

The best thing about these cigars is that not only do they taste good, but they manage to do so consistently, providing a flavorful experience.  You can expect sweet and creamy notes of chocolate and coffee throughout the smoke, and you can expect them to be similar in every cigar that you enjoy from La Aroma De Cuba. The Immensa is their name for a Gordo cigar, and is 5.7 inches long and with a 60 ring gauge, and it is more than enough to satisfy you, especially if paired with a lovely dessert.
