It must be such an honor to have something handcrafted dedicated to you and that’s what master cigar maker, Jose Pepin Garcia did. My Father Le Bijou 1922 is an homage to his own father the same way son, Jaime paid tribute to Don Pepin.
My Father Le Bijou 1922 debuted in 2009 and received an exceptional 97 rating and Cigar of the Year honors in 2015. The cigar has a retro feel but with modern, full bodied components.
Composed of a Habano O.O. (Oscuro) wrapper and Nicaraguan puro this beauty has rich and complex flavors of savory leather, dark chocolate and coffee with subtle nuances of sweet and salty. This is the most satisfying cigar for those who appreciate bold, in your face flavors.
A few years ago I was sitting on the deck at my father’s house, enjoying a cigar, and noticed a birdhouse hanging on a tree. I walked up and realized it was the birdhouse I made when I was about 12 years old in wood shop. It was now painted white with a green roof and there was an actual nest in it! My dad told me that chickadees nested there every spring. My father loved nature. An avid fisherman, he also took a special interest in birds; hanging hummingbird feeders, birdhouses, even feeders for the nuisance squirrels all over the yard. For some reason, our conversations on the deck always had at least one squirrel story in them..... Don’t ask.
