With the success of the Don Pepin Garcia line of cigars, father and son team Jose and Jaime Garcia have developed other labels from both their Tabacalera Cubana and El Rey de los Habanos factories under My Father Cigars Company. In addition to the My Father production of cigars, Don Pepin has created special limited edition cigars for their clients. Now his son has a special cigar named after him.

Created by Jaime Garcia at My Father Cigars, the Jaime G cigar is a Super Gordo with sweet nutty flavors. The full bodied cigar contains an oily USA Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper with Jaime’s special Nicaraguan filler and Ecuadorian binder. The consistent firmness of the leaf emits strong earth flavors. The cool draw has prominent dark chocolate molasses and spice flavors with a touch of sweetness. For the money, you get a lot of full flavored tobacco out of the Jaime Garcia Super Gordo.

Before signing the Cuban embargo, President John F. Kennedy asked his press secretary, Pierre Salinger, to secure him “1,000 Petit Upmanns.”

In a 1992 interview with Cigar Aficionado magazine, 30 years after the embargo, Salinger recalled Kennedy requesting “some help" in securing "a lot of cigars". It later became obvious that President Kennedy wanted to stockpile the Cuban products before he banned their import.

“The next morning, I walked into my White House office at about 8 am, and the direct line from the President's office was already ringing. He asked me to come in immediately,” said Salinger.

Salinger had purchased 1200 Cuban cigars which pleased the President.

Salinger remembers, “He took out a long paper which he immediately signed. It was the decree banning all Cuban products from the United States. Cuban cigars were now illegal in our country.”

By easing the sanctions against Cuba, the United States is aiding the Cuban people in their desire to achieve political and economic freedom. Hopefully, soon, you will be able to buy Cuban cigars online from elcigarshop.com!
