When you pick up this cigar and take a look at the band, you may let out a chuckle. I know I certainly did, looking at a band that said little more than ‘San Cristobal’ and had a parrot on it that made me think inexplicably of Jimmy Buffet. However hilarious the band may look, however, this is a serious cigar.
The San Cristobal Revelation Legend cigar is a cigar unlike most produced by Ashton, a brand associated with the Arturo Fuente company that is based around the work of Carlos Fuente Sr. and Robert Levin. This cigar was made in conjunction with My Father cigars, a company that makes many of the best and most flavorful cigars on the market, including the Flor de las Antilles line. The Garcia family provided the tobacco, grown and cared for at their facility in Esteli, Nicaragua, grown under the watchful eye of Jose Garcia himself.
The tobacco is carefully aged, meeting the standards of Jose Garcia, a man known for the quality of his tobacco and his consistency and dedication to flavor, much like Carlos Fuente Sr. was. They take this wonderfully aged tobacco from the soils of Nicaragua, and they partner it with a wrapper, an Ecuador Sumatra wrapper, that provides a beautiful milk chocolate color to the cigar. Together, they produce a flavorful cigar with a medium body, one that provides the consumer with the earthy and rich flavors. As you smoke the cigar, you begin to taste notes of leather, cedar, nuts, and spice, all well-stated and well-aged, leaving a pleasant and slightly spicy taste in the mouth.
If you’re looking for a cigar that is a bit darker than the usual Ashton Classic line, the San Cristobal Revelation line is perfect, and their toro-sized Legend is perfect for a pensive smoke.
