So many cigars of the Ashton line look the same, with simple appearances, a simple band, and simple flavor. However, that is not to say that the cigars are not worthwhile, but rather that they are made to showcase that they are the standard line. However, when you first hold the Ashton VSG Tres Mystique, you can tell simply from its label that it is not a standard cigar line, and that you are in for something special.
And special the cigar is. The Ashton VSG Tres Mystique has a more ornate Ashton label, but the really important difference that you will find from the label is three simple words; Virgin Sun Grown. These three words showcase the difference that makes them so much more flavorful, and so much harder to find than the standard Ashton lines. They are made in the Dominican Republic, of course, as are so many of the Ashton lines, but these are made a bit differently.
To begin with, the tobacco in these cigars is Dominican grown, of course, but unlike the Ashton Classic line, it is aged for four or five years in order to bring out the natural flavors. The most important difference, though, is the wrapper on the VSG Tres Mystique, a wrapper harvested from Sumatran seeds grown in the Dominican Republic. Combine this with the quality and consistency that only a name like Arturo Fuente is capable of providing, and you have a cigar that is worth trying. The cigar tastes of cedar and espresso, along with notes of dark chocolate and a subtle earthiness. This combination results in a full-bodied smoke that you will certainly enjoy. If you can find an entire box, be sure to buy it, as you aren’t likely to have the chance again.
