Of old, so many of the best cigars came out of the island nation of Cuba. Indeed, it seems like they had all but cornered the market in cigars, and theirs were well-known and well-loved by many. La Gloria Cubana was among them, and the cigar was most definitely a delicious brand. Founded in the late 1800s, the cigar brand would thrive in Cuba, truly being a glorious brand of cigars for the nation. But alas, this was not to last; political turmoil and the communist revolution would end up destroying the cigar industry in Cuba as it was known at the time.

And indeed, the upheaval did destroy the industry, for a time. Not permanently, thankfully, but in the short term, the best-known brands were nationalized under the control of the regime, and the rest were run out of business and their land forfeit. However, the masters and owners that they ran out of Cuba would go on to reopen their brands elsewhere, and so it was with La Gloria Cubana.

Their Serie R line of cigars is one of their best blends, and they are made in the Dominican Republic, for the most part. The wrapper is beautiful, dark, and earthy, and the tobacco is grown in Dominican soil, then aged for an extra few years to make sure that the cigar will be pleasant and not overpowering. This leaves one with a full-bodied cigar that is most enjoyable, and you will be glad that you picked this earthy cigar with hints of coffee for your next cigar.
