Family owned Chateau de la Fuente is a 65 acre tobacco plantation in the tropic river valley of Bonao, Dominican Republic. The Chateau is the home of the legendary wrapper leaves of Fuente Fuente OpusX.
Cuban-American jazz musician and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient Arturo Sandoval shared his experience at Chateau.
“A great cigar puts me in the perfect mood to create beautiful music, for both are passions born of the soul. At Chateau de la Fuente, I have discovered a magical land in which to enjoy both - music and cigars. Join me and my friends, Don Carlos and Carlito Fuente, for together we will share the very best, and make beautiful music together. “
Released in 2009, the small batch cigar Chateau Fuente Queen B is an Ecuadorian sun grown wrapper with the Fuente blend of Dominican filler and binder. After opening this beauty, light aromas of spice, wood and dried fruit waft in the air. The draw on the Queen B is smooth and open. The medium to full bodied cigar has notes of spice, coffee and soft tannin.
In 2012 Cigar Aficionado rated the Chateau Fuente Queen B a 91.
When you produce wine, you do not use aged grapes. You harvest grapes for that year’s wine. However, in the case of cigar making, you use tobacco which has already been aged for many years. An oak-aged French Pinot Noir pairs exceptionally well with the woodsy Chateau Fuente Queen B Sun Grown.
