On one of those days, I was fortunate enough to snag a Herrera Esteli Especial at my local B & M. Never overpowering, the lightness of Herrera Estelí Toro Especial pairs well with many different spirits. A bold merlot, single barrel bourbon and scotch or beer would make an excellent pairing. My recent pairing of Herrera Estelí and Laphroaig 10 Year Scotch was a tremendous success. The Islay Single Malt Laphroaig 10 Year is a full-bodied, smoky jewel, with a subtle sweetness and a hint of salt. As the Herrera Estelí continues to build up to a full bodied cigar, the Scotch plays catching up. The flavors are harmonious and flow right in to one another. At the end is a warming finish. It’s no surprise so many cigars smokers prefer Scotch as an accompaniment to their smoking experience.
