The Ashton VSG cigar is not a cigar that you come across every day. Indeed, they’re very well-received and well-respected, and because of that it is almost impossible to come across one of them, let alone an entire box of them that are up for sale and not tenderly hidden away in some private collector’s humidor.
But if you do find an Ashton VSG Torpedo, or even a Box of 24 such cigars, you are going to want to sample it. You will be glad you did, believe me. From the moment that you pick up the cigar, you know that this is no usual Ashton cigar, but rather something special. The band is unusually ornate. The cigar’s wrapper is darker than usual. The band says VSG and below says ‘Virgin Sun Grown’, and that is there to describe the wrapper.
The cigar is made from quality tobacco, grown in the Dominican Republic and taken care of at the Arturo Fuente facility, where it will be aged for four to five years as needed to get the right flavor profile. They pair this Dominican tobacco with a wrapper born of a Sumatran seed, planted in the soil of the Dominican Republic.
The taste, too, is different than your usual Ashton cigar. The VSG Torpedo tastes of espresso and dark chocolate, with notes of earthy flavor and an aroma that echoes it. The slightly oily wrapper helps encourage beautiful plumes of whitish blue smoke that can fill the room in a soft haze, especially if you’re sharing this box of 24 cigars with friends. If you’re looking for a great cigar and you happen upon one of these boxes, be sure to snatch it up!
