- Rocky Patel's Royale Toro comes from his Tabacalera Villa Cubana S.A. factory, located in the manufacturing mecca for Nicaraguan cigars, Estelí. In addition to having cigars rolled in Nicaragua, Patel loves to use Nicaraguan tobacco in his blends. The filler in the Royale is a delicious amalgam of Nicaraguan long leaf. But, the Rocky Patel Royale line is also crafted with two binder leaves of contrasting look and style. One is a Connecticut shade wrapper which is a light, thin leaf known for its mild flavor. The other is a Connecticut broadleaf, a thick, rugged leaf with a brawny earthy flavor. This lends complexity to the blend, which is held together by a comely Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper leaf. The Royale is a rich, spicy smoke, with pleasant hints of chocolate. Full bodied and intense, it is an award winner, achieving the #5 Cigar of the Year in 2014 from Cigar Aficionado.
