From the factory of the excellent Brick House and El Baton brands, J.C Newman’s Perla Del Mar has burst on the cigar scene. Perla Del Mar means “Pearl of the Sea”.
The hand rolled Perla “G” Maduro is a toro consisting of Nicaraguan binder and long leaf filler from 4 different regions in Nicaragua; Pueblo Nuevo, La Reina, Condega, and Jalapa. This rich beauty is wrapped in a dark-chocolate colored Connecticut Broadleaf. The handsome blue and gold band features vintage black and white artwork of a lighthouse and a schooner.
The mild, creamy broadleaf wrapper provides a light, fresh aroma. This well-crafted cigar delivers a medium smoke with silky, luxurious notes of creamy caramel, chocolate and nuts. The Perla “G” Maduro, although rich, remains mellow throughout.
This “pearl” is best to be enjoyed with an after dinner liqueur or a spirited coffee. The cocoa and nutty flavors go very well with almond liqueurs. I suggest an Amaretto such as Disaronno Originale neat or coffee laced with the nutty liqueur.
1 1/2 oz. amaretto almond liqueur
8 oz. coffee
1/2 - 1 oz. whipped cream
Very tasty! Put a shot of amaretto into a coffee mug and fill it up with coffee. A little whipped cream on top is the perfect garnish!
