Perdomo is a company that was born of the hard work and faith of one man, Nick Perdomo Sr. He and his father were both in the cigar industry in Cuba, back before the communist revolution. They were in the cigar industry when the revolt occurred, too, which didn’t work out well for them; the communists shot Nick Perdomo Sr. twice for his alleged ties to Batista, while they imprisoned his father for years for his anti-communist views and his willingness to be open about them. Luckily, Nick was able to escape Cuba for the United States with the help of the Catholic Church, arriving in the United States under political asylum without a penny to his name and without a place to stay.
From that beginning, he grew a business that he and his father could be proud of, and one that employs his son. The Habano Bourbon Barrel-Aged Sungrown Gordo is a good example of what the company can do, too. They take a wrapper grown in Nicaragua, age it, then they age it for ten months more in a bourbon barrel to give it that bourbon barrel-aged flavor. Then they blend together the best tobaccos that Nicaragua has to offer, creating a fantastic cigar that has a flavor of earth, leather, and a hint of spice.
This cigar is great on its own, but if you have 24 of them, you will be much happier, because the cigar is one that you will want to enjoy again and again, not one that you will be happy to only enjoy once.
