Ah, Partagas. A brand that has such a long history. The original Partagas is a Cuban cigar company, one that has had a facility in Havana, Cuba, for well over a century and a half. They’re a cigar company that has won renown for many years, and they were so well-known and well-loved that when the communists took over Cuba, they allowed Partagas to continue operation, albeit the facility was renamed and put under the control of party members. Sadly, you are not likely to come across cigars from the original Partagas.
However, a few decades back, a Partagas opened in the Americas that wasn’t in Cuba. It began operation in Jamaica, moving quickly to a facility in the Dominican Republic where they would be able to access better tobaccos, better employees, and where they had greater capacity for growing and manufacturing cigars. From this facility, they began to experiment with new lines and new cigars, and the Partagas Black Magnifico that you can find in your local humidor and at your favorite online cigar shop is one of the results.
A much darker cigar than many on the market, the Partagas Black begins with a Medio Tiempo Sun Grown wrapper, dark and oily, and delicious, of course. Into this wrapper is placed dark tobaccos that are a good imitation of the tobaccos you can find in Cuba, and the cigar is a delicious and dark one with earthy tones that gives off fine and bluish plumes of smoke.
