Nicaragua grows some of the best tobacco for cigars that are currently on the market, in my opinion. I mean, if I’m looking to buy a cigar, where the tobacco comes from is something I actually consider, and when it comes from Nicaragua, I know that I’m in for something that will be a bit peppery, a bit delicious, and a whole lot of flavor. It’s like picking a beer; you can find one that can easily replace a meal, and one that you will still find enjoyable.
So when you come across a Nica puro, it should give you pause, making you consider whether or not you want to keep looking. And La Gloria Cubana’s Serie R cigars are a fantastic series of vitolas, ones that are full in flavor and delicious, yet without the wanton peppery and spicy flavors that are so very common in Nicaragua.
This cigar begins with a Nicaraguan wrapper, but it is the long-leaf filler that is the real star of this show. You see, it has been aged a few years longer than you would normally age tobacco for, and that leaves you with a more mild, but more complex, flavor, and makes the cigar more enjoyable. It is full-bodied, delicious, and something that you will be able to enjoy over and over again, and their consistency in flavor profile is an impressive thing to see. Truly, a great cigar for those who like darker smokes.
