If you’re familiar with the collaboration between Rocky Patel and Jonathan Drew of Drew Estate, the makers of ACID infused cigars and Java infused cigars, you’ll be surprisingly happy with their newest release: Java Red.
The Java Red Corona is hand rolled and specially infused by the masters at Drew Estate in Estelí, Nicaragua. Although, the blend is not fully disclosed, the handmade Java Red uses the best aged Nicaraguan long filler tobaccos infused with distinct flavors of coffee, dark cocoa and sweet cherry. The super dark Maduro wrapper is stunning. Java Red is a festive cigar with a beautiful double band of red and gold that pops against the dark chocolate wrapper.
The smoke’s sweet, lingering aroma imparts an essence of robust espresso, herbs and a light floral bouquet. Java Red introduces mouthwatering flavors from the infusion for a medium bodied, smooth smoking experience.
Rocky Patel Java Red by Drew Estate is ideal as a splendid dessert cigar to enjoy after dinner with a cordial, light dessert wine or port. For a little more gusto, a jovial Cherry Manhattan would make a wonderful pairing with Java Red.
Instructions: In a mixing glass with ice, combine 2 ounces of rye, 3/4 ounce cherry liqueur, and 1/4 ounce honey syrup (that’s honey cut 1:1 with hot water). Add a dash of orange bitters. Stir until very well-chilled, and then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist — twisting it over the surface of the drink to spray its citrus oils on top — and a few Luxardo maraschino cherries.
