EP Carrillo is one of those names in the cigar world that carries some clout to it. And why shouldn’t it? Though his EP Carrillo brand is only a few years old, not even a decade old, some of the cigars that he has made have been in circulation for twenty-five years. This includes some of the blends he came up with for La Gloria Cubana. The truth is that the cigar maker Ernesto Perez Carillo has spent years making great cigars for other businesses, and he has finally decided to go into business doing so for himself. It’s well deserved, and if anyone can grow a brand, Carrillo is that person.
EP Carrillo did a great job with this cigar, and that is clear from how it was lauded by those who enjoyed it at Cigar Aficionado. The cigar is a great one, one that got a 94 rating and came in 4th in the ratings for the year it was created in (2016). For his first Oscuro cigar, he certainly knocked it out of the park.
It starts with a San Andres Oscuro wrapper, continues on with a Nicaraguan long-filler, and then ends with an Ecuadorian binder. This leaves you with a fantastic and beautifully-constructed cigar with a medium profile and flavors of pepper, spice and wood. It’s truly a great cigar, and you will be happy that you have a box of them on hand if you take the chance on getting one from your local cigar shop or via your favorite online cigar retailer, like elcigarshop.com! Relax and revel!
