Look, finding a good Maduro cigar is a difficult task. Trust me, I would know; I’m the kind of person who prefers to smoke the darkest cigars that I can, and that means I spend a lot of time searching for the place where I can get a good Maduro cigar, but most of the time, I end up having to buy the same few brands and vitolas over and over again. It seems like there just isn’t that big of a market for people who are looking for that darker and oilier smoke.
But thankfully, CLE, the beloved Eiroas, are making a cigar for people like me; the Prieto. It is a dark cigar, and a beautiful one, that they make in their Nicaraguan facility for people like me. Of course, being so dark of a cigar, it obviously would be the kind of cigar that is fuller in flavor, clocking in at medium-full bodied. But that is what I would expect from any dark cigar, any Maduro.
So what is it about this cigar that sets it apart from all these other cigars on the market? Well, to begin with, while most cigars use lighter wrappers, we start off with some darkness right out of the gate, utilizing a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. This gives you a deep and rich flavor, and the Nicaraguan long-filler tobacco doesn’t hurt either. Trust me when I tell you that this is the kind of cigar that any Maduro aficionado will be happy with and that, if you’re interested in such a cigar, you’re going to be happy that you picked this one up from your local cigar shop.
